Security
We
are insurance approved fitters of Sigma and Toad
Vehicle
security takes many forms , below is a list of the
different categorys.
What
is "Thatcham" Category 1, 2 and 3?
The
simplest form of security can take the form of a steering
wheel lock.
The
good ones (if there is such a thing, since they are
a limited deterrent) have been
categorised by "Thatcham" (the UK insurance
industry testing body) as Cat3.
Vehicle
engine immobilisers are Cat2 and full alarm systems
are Cat1.
To
conform to these categories, the manufacturers are
required to build the product to
very stringent criteria.
But
the product itself is only one half of the equation.
Installation
by a certified company must also be proved, and unless
these products are
installed by a certified fitter, they are not recognised
by the insurance companies.
So
if you think you have a Cat1 or Cat2 device on your
vehicle, you may not have
a
valid claim if your car is stolen and you don't have
the installation certificate.
